Message from the Principal
We are now into week three of 39 weeks; I am pleased to share with you the energy and vigour put into to making our school a hub of learning and challenge.

I have been impressed by the way in which Year 7 students, as well as new staff, have settled into the daily school routines.  I am particularly keen to emphasise to staff and students that time goes so quickly and to make the most of every day and lesson.  The reason for this is to have no regrets.  Everyone at the end the year should be able to look back to say: “I have done my very best and deserve what I have achieved.” This means putting in the effort now and not in a few weeks’ time.  This principle applies to all of us, so let us embrace it together.

The term is relatively new, however the amount of events taking place is impressive.  The articles below share with you the power of learning outside the school and I am grateful to the members of staff for going the extra mile to enhance your child’s learning.

Our first Parents’ Forum of the new academic year takes place on Wednesday 28 September at 6.00 in the Conference Room.  Traditionally, we ask if parents wish to attend and have any questions or queries that they email them in advance to Mrs Ware using the following email: parentsforum@kscs.org.uk.  There will be two presentations on how to help your son/daughter prepare for their GCSE Maths and Science examinations at the end of Year 11.

Please be aware that on Tuesday 4th October the school day will finish at 2.20 pm in order to prepare for our Prospective Parents Evening.

Finally, as autumn fast approaches and the weather becomes more unpredictable, I would like to state that the inclusion of a rain coat is advisable.  I am astounded by the number of students who have left home or arrived at school without any coat or protection from our unpredictable weather.

Arriving to school wet, cold and uncomfortable is not the best start to the day.  I urge you to share with your son/daughter to check the advance weather forecast to avoid getting subsequently caught out by inclement conditions.

Best wishes

Year 10 Art and Design Visit
Year 10 Art and Design GCSE and BTEC students enjoyed a sunny visit to Sandringham and Hunstanton on Tuesday to collect primary source material for their Landscape projects they have recently commenced.

Students had a whistle stop tour of the lush forest of Sandringham and then onto Old Hunstanton where we sat and drew the beautiful cliffs. Students were then given some time to explore the holiday seaside town of New Hunstanton before our departure home. The photos and drawings that the students took on the day will be hugely inspiring for their projects. I wish to thank the students positive attitude and good behaviour on the day.

New Staff Profile
We asked a couple of our new teachers to create a short 'Pen Portrait' of themselves.

Mrs Isaac

Hello, My name is Mrs Isaac and I'm very excited to be the new Science Teacher at KSCS.  My background is in Genetics, which is the area of Biology which fascinates me the most.  I am a STEM Ambassador, which means that I actively promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths to schools in Lincolnshire - I've even taught Science to 4 year old children!  In my spare time, I enjoy travelling and I am a qualified Advanced Open Water SCUBA diver, which means I spend most of my holidays underwater - so you are unlikely to see me with a suntan!

Attendance
"Do not give up. The beginning is always the hardest."

"Well done to Aspire who this week has gone into the lead bumping Success into second place. This is the first time in over a year that the lead position has changed. At this time of the year the attendance statistics can change so much, with even one day reducing the students attendance to under 86%. Do not forget that Every Day Counts"
