Admission Policy

Ken Stimpson Academy experiences a high volume of in-year admission applications.  Admissions are currently managed by Peterborough City Council.

All new Year 7 admissions are dealt with by Peterborough City Council (the Local Authority).
If your child was born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 and you live in Peterborough you will need to apply for a transfer from primary (Year 6) to secondary school (Year 7) for September 2024.
Parents of Year 6 students should access the link below for further information on the admissions process:
https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/residents/schools-and-education/school-admissions
All enquiries should be made to the Admissions team at the Local Authority.

  • Applications must be submitted before midnight on 31 October 2023.
  • You will receive an email confirmation that your application has been received.
  • Your child’s school offer will be posted on 1 March 2024.

In-Year Admissions (also known as In-Year School Transfers) are managed by Peterborough City Council.  This information is from the In-Year Admissions section of the Peterborough City Council website, available here:
https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/residents/schools-and-education/school-admissions/moving-schools-in-year-transfer
An in-year admission could be:

  • a move between Peterborough schools, or
  • a move to a Peterborough school from a school in a different county or country

To apply for a place at a school outside of Peterborough, you will need to apply to the local authority which the new school is located.
You can submit an application for a school place up to 30 school days before the intended start date. When Peterborough City Council has received a complete application, along with the appropriate documentary evidence, (proof of your Peterborough address and Student Details form where your child is moving from one Peterborough School to another) the Council will process applications following the timetable found below.
