Level 3 in Travel and Tourism

Level 3 in Travel and Tourism

What will I learn?

This qualification has been designed to provide an all-round introduction to the travel and tourism sector for those who wish to further their careers in one of its many connected industries, including retail travel, visitor attractions, accommodation, transport and tour operations or to progress to vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals in Travel and Tourism.

The 60-credit BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma extends the specialist work-related focus of the BTEC Level 3 Certificate qualification and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector. The BTEC Level 3 subsidiary Diploma offers greater flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the optional units. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level.

The units for the BTEC qualification in this specification are available on the Edexcel website (www.edexcel.com). You will cover a range of topics over the two year course including: Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector; Customer Service in Travel and Tourism and Researching Current issues in Travel and Tourism.

Assessment:

All units are internally assessed in the BTEC qualifications in this specification.

All assessment for the BTEC qualifications in this specification is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of specified learning outcomes. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria which are to be used for grading purposes. A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, merit or distinction.

Mandatory and optional units
To achieve the Certificate leaners must complete three units; to achieve the Subsidiary Diploma learners must complete three further units.

  • Unit 1: Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector (Mandatory)
  • Unit 2: The Business of Travel and Tourism (Mandatory)
  • Unit 3: The UK as a Destination (Mandatory)
