Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Aspects at KSCS

Year 7 and 8 Maths Mastery Course

Problem solving activities are used in lessons alongside an interactive dialogue. Teachers use opportunities within lessons to link learning with prior knowledge and cross-curricular learning. Practical activities and models are built in where possible to demonstrate the usefulness of mathematics. Technology is also used wherever possible.

Aspect of SMSC

Reason for event

This approach improves retention, drives enthusiasm and provokes mathematical thinking in students. It ensures that students understand the concepts behind the maths they are doing in preparation for further study. Students are encouraged to persist with mathematics they may initially find challenging, and by using team activities and group work they are able to progress through barriers and improve mathematical stamina and success.
