Message from the Principal
Thank you to all parents and carers who attended this week’s Year 7 Progress Evening. The turnout was 71% with Excellence House achieving the highest attendance on the evening of 75%. This maintains our record of at least four out of every families attending Progress Evenings throughout the year.
We received some excellent feedback on our provision both on the night and subsequently and the following messages give you a flavour of the comments that we often receive on these occasions:

‘Could you pass along to all staff; I came to parents evening last night and was very pleased with my childs progress during year 7. The level of care and the positive feedback was execellent. I can honestly say that everything you have done for our son and for us as parents has been nothing but positive and supportive. Thankyou.’

‘Thank you for encouraging my child and improving her confidence.’

'This School should be a role model for others, keep up the good progress! Well done to all concerned!'

On the evening many parents and carers completed the E-Safety questionnaire and the traditional Parental Feedback questionnaire.

98% of parents felt that their child is happy at this school, 98% felt that their child makes good progress at this school, 96% would recommend this school to another parent.

As ever, we will celebrate the positives that have been highlighted to us and thank the staff involved.  More importantly, we will address areas for improvement that you have indicated to us to ensure the ongoing satisfaction of all members of our school community.

Parents’ Forum Surgery – Wednesday 22 June 6.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m.

Next Wednesday sees final ‘Parents’ Forum Surgery’ of the academic year taking place.  The purpose of this evening is to provide parents and carers with the opportunity to raise any issue or concern about our school provision.

Happy Father’s Day

Best wishes to those celebrating Father’s Day on Sunday and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all fathers for supporting their children’s education over the course of this year.

Best wishes

Year 10 Business Studies Visit to Cadbury World
On Thursday 9 June we took around 40 Year 10 Business Studies students to Cadbury World in Birmingham to see how a real business operates and to focus on how they market their products.

The first part of the day was listening to a talk by one of the members of staff about how Cadbury markets their range of products. Students were taken through a little history of how the adverts have changed through the years from the Milk Tray man all the way through the drumming gorilla. The talk was very useful to the students as they were able to think about marketing techniques learned in lessons and see how this has been applied in a successful company like Cadbury.

After their talk students were then free to look through the exhibition of Cadbury World. Students experienced the 4D adventure theatre ride, had a look at the history of the Cadbury Company and a small insight into the running of the factory.

Overall, the students enjoyed the day as a whole and even had multiple opportunities to gain free chocolate!

Sporting Update
Ken Stimpson have not participated in any school fixtures this term, as all preparations have been geared towards attending the annual Peterborough Schools Athletics Championship for all years.
Peterborough Athletics

On Thursday 30 June, Year 9 and 10 will be doing battle with the other schools, and our current Year 10 GCSE PE cohort are filling up. Some potential starts include Elle Forrest, Callum Boyes, and Liam Roberts from the Year 10 side.

On Tuesday 5 July it will be the turn of the Year 7 and 8. This is usually trickier, as we are bombarded with Year 7 names, and faced with the task of narrowing down the numbers to two athletes per track event. We have some serious candidates in terms of Ella Robinson, Freddie Frasier and Molly Fowler but we also often we find unsung heroes.

From a parent perspective. If your son or daughter is selected to attend this event they will receive a letter. We will be leaving school at 9:30am on the day by bus, and heading towards the Peterborough Athletics track where we will be all day. Students are encouraged to bring suitable clothing as well as refreshments. Parents are actively encouraged to attend.

Usually students are picked up from the track after 3:15pm. The day usually finishes around 4pm depending if events run to timetable.

As for in school, preparations are being made for the annual Sports Day which will be on Monday 18 July. Next week PE teachers are leading Assemblies for their own Houses in order to assemble their squad. As for rumours about inflatables - they are true. More to follow.

Correction - New Intake days
Last week we stated:
'Our annual New Intake day for the incoming Year 7 students takes place on Wednesday 6 July. This event concludes with a briefing session for parents and carers at 6.00pm on Wednesday 1 July.'

Apologies for this error, both events will be taking place on the 6 July, not Wednesday 1 July.

Attendance
Success holds onto the lead for another week, and they are very close to our target of 96%. Can the other Houses catch up and overtake? Make every day count.
