FTE £15207-16231 (Pro-Rata £10243-10932)

HOURS OF WORK:                       7.30 a.m. – 2.00 p.m. 30 hours per week term time only

Temporary Exams and Assessment Assistant (6 months in the first instance)

Starting Date ASAP

Hours of work 7.30 am – 2.00 pm is the norm but there is a requirement for a flexible approach particularly during external examination periods.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic candidate to join our team. The role will focus on the upkeep of all assessment reporting data and examination data.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Working alongside the Data Manager and Exams Officer you must be able to work independently and be proactive in your approach. Experience of working in this field is preferred but not essential.

Purpose of the Job: 
  • To support in the administration and organisation of all external and internal examinations.
  • To support the Examinations Officer and Data Manager in the administration of reporting, collating and dissemination of the school’s attainment and assessment data.
Main Responsibilities: 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

External and Internal Examinations

 

  • To support in the administration of all aspects of exam procedures and support with examination entries, coursework submissions and controlled assessments, including amendments, corrections, withdrawals and controlled assessments.
  • To be aware and support in the administration to ensure that all matters relevant to existing public examinations are conducted accurately and efficiently in accordance with examination board requirements. To ensure that this knowledge is shared with relevant people.
  • To support with the administration and organisation of examinations and liaise with the Cover Manager over timetable and room allocations; liaison with Heads of Faculty over entries and disapplication’s; collecting and collating of papers and dispatch to the examination boards.
  • To provide support to the Exam Officer in co-ordinating internal tests, making sure that all students take the tests and absent students are chased up and additional provision is made for them to take the tests.
  • Support in the submission of the entries for external examinations to awarding bodies in advance of deadlines.
  • To download and prepare examination results.
  • Support in the preparation of public examination timetables, base data, seating plans, room bookings and issue students with all relevant information.
  • Support where required the daily running of external examinations. This will include ensuring that all required materials are in the examination rooms for the start of the examinations and arrangements for candidates with special educational needs are in place.
  • Collection and despatching of worked scripts in accordance with the regulations.
  • Be present and available in school on the days when results are notified, and support in the distribution of results to candidates.
  • Support in processing enquiries about results and requests for return of scripts.
  • Ensure that costs of retakes etc. are reimbursed by candidates/departments, as appropriate.
  • Encourage a positive examination culture in the school to which all staff and students subscribe.
  • Keep up to date with the requirements of the role. Ensuring attendance at appropriate awarding body and other INSET training meetings and keeping up to date with the latest procedures and regulations for external examinations.

Data Assessment and Reporting

 

  • Support the Data Manager and the Exams Officer in the maintenance of the school’s timetable and student information system
  • Support the Data Manager in administering the SIMS assessment system for collating and analysing student progress and attainment.
  • To work with Data Manager in developing and administering the processes of reporting to parents.
  • To be responsible for the integrity and completeness of the administrative data on the SIMS system.
  • To manage the permissions and passwords of SISRA/Data management software users ensuring that users have appropriate levels of access.
  • To support the Data Manager to administer the process through which DfE and LA Census returns are made.
  • To support the Data Manager by attending system upgrade events, advise and take the appropriate actions to ensure that the SIMS system is working effectively and taking advantage of new features as they become available.
  • To support the accurate maintenance of student curriculum data in SIMs
  • To support the management of the day to day operation of the timetable and SIMS ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of the system
  • To support the Data Manager in administering the schools internal cycle assessment data systems.
  • To support in the creation and maintenance of Aspects, Grade sets, Mark Sheet Templates in SIMS
  • Quality assurance of Data Entry at Assessment points
  • Dealing with data enquiries from departments/pastoral and LT.
  • Support in the checking, formatting, and printing of end of year reports to parents.
  • Any other duties thought appropriate by the Principal.
