Message from the Principal

Some times the darkest hours require strength and a need to protect what we hold dear….

As the morning closes in and the day shortens these issues are on our minds.  I urge you to please check that your child leaves on time to get to school before the late bell is signalled (8.45am).  Punctuality is a vitally important life skill.  Secondly, can you please check that your child has appropriate lighting/lock if they cycle to school.  If they walk to school, then the need for a suitable coat ( not a hoodie or a football training top) is vital.  Sometimes, it is very evident that this is lacking.

Year 11 will be mid point of their PPEs with Post16 due to start.  Year 10 Subject Evening is almost upon us on Wednesday 28 November (please click here to make a booking) and I urge that you do attend the evening to find out how your  son/daughter is progressing as they travel through their very short journey towards their GCSE outcomes.

Best wishes

2018 First News Takeover Challenge
This week some Y10 Business students were amongst a group of students who took part in the First News Takeover Challenge with Tim from Kooth.com

Business Teacher Miss Iqbal said of the event 'The Year 10 BTEC Enterprise students were asked to put their marketing caps on and make suggestions about how Kooth can reach out to males, a demographic that is less likely to access mental heath services. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to apply business knowledge to issues they have learnt about in subjects such as PSHE.'

Attendance

Success widens the gap this week, as they move further into the lead.  As we move into the colder parts of the year we often have a dip in attendance, as there is more illness and students find the darker mornings do not instil motivation. Please remind them that their schooling is important to their education and send them to school.
