Weekly Newsletters

I am really pleased to share with you our first ever weekly newsletter. We have printed this copy for you, but future copies will be made available electronically on our website and through social media. We hope that this communication will keep you fully informed of what is happening at Ken Stimpson Community School on a week-to-week basis.
This is a pleasing set of examination results, with the overall A* - C pass rate being 88%. Students in Mathematics achieved an excellent 70% A* - C pass rate and English students achieved 54% A*-C. We have easily surpassed the aspirational target set for our school. Once again, we perform well on one the government’s latest measure of students achieving three levels of progress from leaving primary school to sitting their GCSEs.

The results mean that the majority of students will be able to progress on to their first choice courses for Post 16 education and, for a new record number of students, this means returning to Ken Stimpson Community School.

Excellent GCSE results were achieved by the following students:
Katie Green
Hussein Vanparekh
Curtis Morrell
Mohammed Abbas Dhanji
Sibqa Shabir
Kayleigh Prowen
Benjamin Hale
Georgia Savidge
Jasmine Goncalves
Sasha Smith-Hooke
Katrina Larsen
Fionn Lawrence
Abbie Lister
Daniel Goodhand
Andre Horne

I am very proud of the efforts of our students and staff. They have achieved some excellent individual performances which will provide the best springboard for the students’ next stage of their education. These examination results are great news for everybody involved with our school. Every one of these results reflects the hard work and talent of the students and staff at Ken Stimpson Community School. In addition, the very supportive roles of the students’ parents should be recognised. I would like to congratulate everybody involved on their achievements and efforts.

I was thrilled with the examination results achieved by Year 13 students. These results maintain the progress of Post 16 students at our school. The upward trends in many subjects are impressive and there are numerous superb individual performances in really demanding A’ Level courses. With considerably more entries than ever before, the overall pass rate is 97%, with an A* -C pass rate of 65%.

Ms Bill, Post 16 Manager, added “Our students made excellent choices of progression routes following their GCSE exams and, after very careful guidance, these choices were tweaked followingthe receipt of AS level results at the end of Year 12. This has led to an excellent set of A2 grades for our Year 13 students and, as a result, a very smooth transition for the vast majority of students to their first choice University, College of Higher Education or place of employment. We wish them the very best in their chosen career paths.” We also have our first ever Post 16 student gaining a place at Medical School.

Excellent results were achieved, in particular, by the following individual students:

Rebecca Platten
Grace Barnett
Sebastian Paris
Kimberley Dunne
Joshua Langwade
Thomas Harper
Emily Cook
Hakimul Haque
Haroon Ahmed
Erika Radvilaite
Alexander Egerton
Bethany Taylor
Katie Edwards
Joel Grenfell
Curtis Oliver-Smith
Ethan Edwards
Ross Brown

I wish our Year 13 students well in their chosen education and careers paths. We will hopefully see all of our Year 11 and 13 students at our annual Presentation Evening to congratulate and celebrate their success on Thursday 19 December at 7pm.

Welcome to our new KSCS Year 7 Students
Welcome to the Year 7 students at Ken Stimpson Community School. On Tuesday 3 September our new students arrived looking very smart in their new uniform.

There were a few nervous smiles upon arriving at school as they begin on their journey of secondary school education. Mr Treliving formally welcomed all students and set expectations for students to follow. As teachers we ask students to support one another and create a positive learning atmosphere. We encourage our students to demonstrate politeness and positive manners whilst being courteous to others to maintain our sense of school community.

Each student is asked to work hard and achieve their personal best every lesson and every day of their school life. We hope that, with this positive outlook and hard work from the students and teachers, all students leave at the end of their journey with experiences that they cherish and qualifications of which they are proud.

I would like to wish each and every student a warm welcome to Ken Stimpson Community School and ask them to enjoy what they are learning and to set their personal targets high, so they can aspire to bright things in their futures.

Mr Treliving Head of Lower School

Seclusion Room to change to the Internal Exclusion unit
We wanted to inform parents that we have changed the name of this facility to the Internal Exclusion unit. The unit will continue to be managed by Mrs Woodroffe and Mrs Baldry this academic year. If you son/daughter is placed within the unit we will continue to telephone/leave a message with you the previous day to inform you and give you the reasons for the Internal Exclusion. This facility is used by Heads of House and the Leadership Team as a serious sanction.

The additional change is that from Monday 30/09/2013 if your son/daughter is placed within the Internal Exclusion unit they will start their day at 8.45am as normal and they will be asked to complete a contract for the day and complete class work from their lessons. However, students will complete their day within the unit at 4.15pm. Students will be informed of this change via School assemblies.
